THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW OF DEATH
Over the years since Jenni's death, whenever I would hear that someone I knew, or knew of, had suffered the death of a child, I would send them copies of some of the poems that I had written since Jenni's death. More often than not, I would hear back from them, telling me how grateful they were that I had shared the poems with them, and how much of a help they had been to them. They would say, too, that I should consider putting them into a book, so that others might benefit from them as well. It wasn't until this year (2006) that I began to take them seriously, and in March I sat down at my computer and started working on my book: The Valley of the Shadow of DEATH. A friend of Jenni's told me that, besides the poetry, I should maybe consider writing the story of how the poems came into being...the story of my journey...as I subtitled the book..."A mother's journey through the dark days of grief...to a brighter tomorrow." I thought I might have trouble putting it into words, but as I typed, it just poured out, and by May I was looking for a publisher. I sent query letters to numerous main-stream publishers, and got back very polite rejection letters telling me my work was very good and not to give up, but it was not the subject matter they were presently publishing. An author I contacted wrote me telling me that the publishing industry had changed drastically the last few years, and several of her writer friends have gone the self-publishing route, and been very happy with the results. Therefore, I contacted Infinity Publishing out of Pennsylvania, and they looked at my submission and agreed to publish my book, which is now in print! It can be ordered by clicking on the following site: www.bbotw.com and either typing the book title in the search bar at the top, or doing an author search and typing in "Andres."
