Whenever God Seems Far

This Pain I Live With

CHRIST FOR ME, LLC

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Phil. 1:21

I asked God to take away my pride,
and God said, “No.”
He said it was not for Him to take away,
but for me to give up.
I asked God to heal my child and make her whole again,
and God said, “No,
Her spirit is whole, her body is only temporary.”
I asked God to grant me patience,
and God said, “No.”
He said, “Patience is a by-product of tribulation.
It isn’t granted, it’s earned.”
I asked God to give me happiness,
and God said, “No.”
He said He gives blessings…happiness is up to me.
I asked God to spare me pain,
and God said, “No.”
He said, “Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.”
I asked God to make my spirit grow,
and God said, “No.”
He said I must grow on my own,
but He would prune me to make me fruitful.
I asked God to help me love others
as much as He loves me…and God said,
“Ah, finally, you have the idea.”

A friend of mine from my childhood years recently had her youngest sister, Lucinda, die from cancer.  It has been very hard on my friend, Judy Maxwell, of Colorado Springs, CO.  Even though she, too, knows that Lucinda is home with our Lord...no more pain...no more suffereing...in the perfect body, enjoying perfect peace, in the perfect place...with our Lord and Savior.  Recently she emailed me the following thought she had.  I asked her if it was okay to share it with others.  Since she said it was, I am sharing it with you as the Thought For The Day:

"Every morning there seem to be hundreds of birds that sing about 3:30 am and on. I didn’t wake up this morning at 3:30 am, but when I did, they were chirping to beat the band. Suddenly I thought about them, and thought how excited they were to begin their day. Then I thought how the Lord wants me to be excited to begin and go through my days. Then the chorus we sang as kids came to mind, “The birds up in the treetops sing their song, the angels chant their chorus all day long, the flowers in the garden blend their hue, so why shouldn’t I, why shouldn’t you, praise Him too.” I do have so much to thank Him for.  I hurt beyond my imagination, but I know He’s holding me in the hurt and through the tears."

Thought for Today...

"
This is the day that the Lord has made.

I will rejoice and be glad in it."

                                  THOUGHT FOR TODAY

II Corinthians 5:8-10  We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken.  We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit.  We are hunted down, but God never abandons us.  We get knocked down, but we get up again and again and keep going.  Through suffering, these bodies of ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

II Corinthians 1:3-5:  "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows."

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Isaiah 40:28-31:  "Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom.  He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, the will walk and not be faint."
