LIFE'S NOT FAIR

By:  Judy A. Andres

"Life's not fair!" I'd always say

When you would come to me,

With some injustice in this world

That you'd so plainly see.

I hoped that you'd both come to learn,

No matter how well planned,

There would be times here in this life

That you'd not understand.

I wanted both of you to know that,

Even though not fair,

There was a lot of good in life.

Just look, you'd find it there.

For if you only looked for bad,

I knew that's all you'd see.

And that would make your life down here

So full of misery.

Now when my heart within me cries,

"Your death was so unfair!"

It's almost like I hear you say,

"You're right, Mom, life's not fair!"

"You need to start to look for good ~

If all you see is bad,

The rest of your life here on earth

Will always stay so sad."

It's just as if the words I said

Keep echoing at me.

Refusing from my mind to rest,

Until I finally see.

Life's not fair ~ I knew it then,

And even more so now.

But while I've life, I'll look for good

In everything----------somehow.
