THREATENING WAVE

There’s times a wave sweeps over me,
And knocks me from life’s boat…
I feel as though I’m swept away,
And helpless to stay afloat.
It feels just like I’m drowning
In feelings I can’t explain.
All I know is that each feeling
Causes a lot of pain.
‘Tis not exactly physical,
This pain that threatens woes.
Yet all I know is that I ache
From my head down to my toes.
I feel almost light-headed…
And sick, quite like the flu.
And every feeling that I feel
Takes on a shade of blue.
The reason for these feelings
Is always plain to see…
Its just that I am missing you
Since you’re not here with me.
I have a source of comfort…
But oft forget He’s there.
I oft forget His promises,
And just how much He cares.
I oft forget that you are His,
And were on loan to me.
He had the right to call you home..
You’re His….sometimes I see.
But often I am selfish,
And want you back with me.
And that’s what causes the great wave
That rolls ‘cross my life’s sea.
